Diag. Trouble Code P0603 ??

Anyone have any info about this P0603 DTC code? All I can come up with is "Internal Ctrl Mod KAM Error" - but that doesn't help me a whole lot. It says that this code may trigger dash lights - but I've gotten no lights and the truck seems to be running fine. I was just putting my truck back to stock with my Superchips tuner so I can install my chip.
Is this serious? Should I not put my chip in?? ANY info??

Alright I did a search and I came up with a bunch of stuff so basically I'm good. I already put my chip in and went out for a spin. I was out for 20 min. or so to get it all up to temp. then I flicked it up from 50 to 100 and gave 'er hell. I was so busy hanging on (holy crap) to notice when it came on but when I got home the check engine light was on. Checked the codes AGAIN and came up with the same P0603 AND P1211 (ICP not controllable - pressure above/below desired). What the heck - is thing gonna set off my check engine light and throw codes every time I get on the go pedal?? The check engine light stayed off right after the install so I know it's not the connections... Anyone have this crap??

The 603 was probably set when you unloaded the tuner, or if you unhooked the batteries to install the chip the 603 would be set too. The PO603 did not set the light, and is still most likely nothing to worry about.

The P1211 set the light. It is not too common, but some chipped trucks set the 1211. Most do not. Contact them and see if there is anything they can do about it.

If the truck is running properly then neither code is doing any harm. If it starts bucking and jerking and you have a generally hard time keeping it running then the ICP might be going out, but that would be an odd coincidence given that both codes, while not normal, are not unheard of with chipped rigs.

Injector Control Pressure

The SES light is from the 1211 code. The chip adds more power, but the ICP starts to drop off when you get on her hard in the higher HP settings or towing up a grade. The program is calling for a certain ICP and the engine can't keep up with the demand so the SES light is set when the ICP drops below the desired level, IIRC it goes off when the ICP drops 500 below the requested value - but I'm not 100% sure about the number. Welcome to the situation were, one mod leads to another.

If you continue to drive the truck the light should go off within 10 minutes.

Welcome to FTE leroy.

Cat man. What chip did you install? The 1211 means your chipped PCM is calling for more fuel than the HPOP (high pressure oil pump) can deliver. As Scott (cookie88) said, it's not a big deal (neither is the KAM error) unless you've got some rough running issues that go along with it.

This seems to be the point where PMS (powerstroke mod syndrome) kicks in. The chip is too good for the injectors and HPOP so it's time to upgrade those. Then those are great, but you discover a better turbo would be better, etc. etc. etc.

Hey Catman, just so you know, KAM stands for Keep Alive Memory. you will set this code as Cookie described anytime you unhook the batts, or change any internal command settings in the PCM ,especially with off the shelf tuners. Custom tuners take this into account and will write code so as not to set this off.

Unhook the edge and see if it still does it, if so, the something is faulty else where. Give as much info to us as you can about your truck, what you have done, what it is doing and we will get you fixed up.
