Thumbs up Extended warranty

Hello guys. hope this work this time. I bought a F350 dully crew cab. i like this truck so far nothing major has happen. My CPA told me to buy a new truck for my business every three years, but i did'nt get the extended warranty on this truck. I have 26000 miles on this truck now. I went back to the dealer to get some prices on extended warranty and i though it was a little high, but i don't know. Is there some body else that sells extended warranty that works at a ford dealers.

Send an e-mail to 1956MarkII up in the New Truck Buyers area. He has some realluy good deals. This is the way i would go.

Also you can do a Google search for FMC extended warranty dealers.

Hope this helps.

I didnt realize you could buy an extended warranty from any dealer. Do they all offer the same warranty at the same price or can you get better deals by shopping around between dealers?

Outwest,

Yes you can buy the extended warranty from any FMC dealer you want. Shop the warranty just like you shop for a car. Dealers charge a wide range of prices for the same product. You can purchase these from the dealer over the telephone , internet etc.

There are dealers out there that sell the warranty at a considerable discount.

E-mail 1956MarkII for a quote.

Just do your homework on warranties!! Most dealers sell both Ford ESP and some form of aftermarket warranty. Be very careful of the aftermarket contracts. They all claim you can take the vehicle anywhere but my dealership and a lot of others will ONLY work with the ones we sell. The others are just too much of a pain to deal with. Some don't want to pay dealer's parts and labor prices so you may be responsible for a portion of the repairs over and above your deductable. Some are very hard to get anything covered, others seem to have no problems giving us approvals, just take 6 weeks to pay. They all claim to be bumper-to-bumper but NONE ever are. READ THE FINE PRINT!!!! Some will send used parts to repair your vehicle because their reasoning is at 50000 miles, the original part is "used" so they won't replace it with a new or reman part, kind of risky in the event of a transmission failure.
I could go on and on about these companies but I hope you get the point of this.
In my professional opinion, stick with Ford ESP plans, they are by far the easiest to work with and the best buy for your money.

Exclamation Extended warranty

Two things you must be aware of when considering an extended warranty:

1. Ford CAN and WILL void both your regular AND extended warranties if you modify the vehicle. When my Banks PowerPack equipped truck's tranny went south they did just that.

2. Surprise #2. The extended warranty starts the day you take delivery of your truck. Mine was 1 year old when I was forced to cash in my extended and they only refunded two-thirds of the cost because I had used one-third already: $1000+ gone!

You'll now hear from the "They can't do that because of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" camp. Before you buy into that, ask a lawyer what it would cost to fight Ford in court. A LOT more than you will lose just licking your wounds and learning from the experience. Remember, once Ford declares your warranty void you can complain and quote "Acts" all you want, but you still have to take them to court to win. $$$$$

In my case Ford was correct in what they did (as much as I hate to admit it), because the transmission failure was in fact due to the Banks system. A $5,000 lesson learned the hard way.

Good luck in your decision.

As a rebuttal, this issue has been considerably discussed on this forum, with no definitive support for your position. You may have lost the arguement with the dealership/Ford, however, others have justifiably won.

It is for that reason, one usually does not take the policy until the end of the regular warranty ends--which I believe is after ?miles/36 months (but don't hold me to this)

If you have your act together, one can comfortably do it through small claims court.

This would apply to almost any issue in life......always part of the consideration process.

(1) Did you ask for the warranty from the dealer or from FMC?

(2) Did they give the warranty to you because of all the problems you have had with your truck?

Extended warranties

Luke

Not a question of "losing the argument" with Ford or the dealership. Others may have won because they deserved to. Ford was correct in voiding my warranty due to the fact that the Banks product DID cause the transmission failure. Just wanted to let everyone know that this CAN happen, and the price they will pay for modifying their vehicle. Not sorry I modified mine, just regretted buying the extended warranty. If you plan to modify, or have already done it, my experience says skip the cost of the extended warranty and buy more goodies for your truck.

I didn't ask for it, Thy gave me it after the 1st problem, R/M leak, 5 Bad injectors.

Yes because of problems with truck.

The dealer didn't offer, FMC area rep did.
