Extended warranty

Tim -

Yes, Banks did work with me - they paid for another tranny w/installation without accepting blame. Mistakes can be made, even by a top-notch outfit like Banks, but they did right by me. I replaced the stock tranny with an ATS rebuild, Mag Hytek pan, TripleLok torque converter & Commander. So far so good - really puts all that extra power to the ground. Of course Banks only paid for a stock rebuild replacement, the additional $$ for the ATS stuff I paid for.

As far as the loss of my warranty Banks sent me some printed information on the "Act", and some things I could do to fight it, but it was quite clear Banks was obviously at fault so losing the fight was a sure thing. Besides, Ford was within their rights to void it and I would do the same thing if I sold someone a product and it failed due to a modification they made to it. Increasing the H/P by 25-40% is far different than changing the air cleaner or some other small improvement to performance. It would be unreasonable to expect any manufacturer to honor the warranty when the inevitable failure occurs due to a substantial alteration.

When I was a Service Manager at a Ford dealer in Atlanta. I voided several peoples warranties. I used to hang out at Atlanta dragway on weekends messing with my Mustangs and I would see customers there ripping up T-5 trannies and towing them in and wanting warranty replacements. If they were nice they usually got them but when they came in screaming and demanding I would have to put them in there place. Also engine failures and no evidence of any maintenance. Ford can and will Void a warranty. Act or no act, if it is ovious neglect or abuse. But it has to be real obvious and like I said the persons attitude has a lot to do with it. Just my .02 cents.
Also aftermarket warranties arent even good for toilet paperif you cant buy Ford ESP dont waste your money. I could go on and on about horror stories from them. I wouldnt take one if it was free because it would be useless paper taking up space.
ESP is good at every Ford dealer everywhere and does what it says it will do.

Oviously, you handled this very well, and fairly, for Banks was due to come through with their "curring" the problem. I salute you.

The performance industry is slowly changing its ways and starting to stand behind their products
this is good. Banks is a great company.
