Motor mount

Thought I might write about a rush that I had. I would start off and turn. At that time the gas peddle would floor itself. I had a 67 Camaro that had a 454 Chevelle motor in it. Man would it go. Anyways that was a trip of speed that I still remember. The moror mount rubber had split. When the car gas peddle was pushed, the torque of the motor lifted the motor and pushed the gas peddle to the floor. Probably a recall out now.

Motor mount

I had a broken motor mount on my '77 F100 with 300 I6. That truck had the old mechanical clutch linkage with a jack shaft that mounted between the frame and the engine block. The motor mount that broke (I assume this is the one that always breaks--it makes sense) was the one on the side of the engine that lifts from the engine torque. In my case it was also the side with the jackshaft. So every time I hit the gas pedal too hard the clutch linkage would drop off the truck. I was on a two-track with some bad sandy patches and had to gas that old 2WD F100 to get through the sandy patchs. I reinstalled that jackshaft several times before I got out of there.

Motor mount

I'll never forget one day - staring up at a huge big-block engine in a Dodge Challenger and seeing split mounts on both sides of the dang thing...

- And realising the only thing between me and IT was gravity and AIR...
