Overhead Bins

Does anyone know how many of the clip in overhead bins will fit on the rails in an extended cab (whatever they call it now)F150 '04?

Does anyone know where I can see what the options for the bins are? Is there a DVD player bin?

There is a DVD available, but only as factory built for now, but they are suppose to come out with an add-on.

the factory DVD is available when ordering as an option. we ( Overhead System and rail system supplier to Ford) are working on making it available after the fact with the proper wire kit, shooting for 05 model or possibly earlier.

do a search under my posts and you will find more info about the rails, the bins available, and what is coming in the future

There is a nice idea in a sun glasses "binsert" for the large bin which comes standard. rambunctious has posted info and a part number. When I went to the dealer the part number tied to a bin with glasses case clips on the outside of the door. That would mean that opening the door with glasses inserted would probably dump them on the floor. It was also priced at $71.50, a little steep to hold a pair of glasses IMO.
I'd love to use my bin, but I just have not found anything to put in it. Ford dealerships don't know. I have no clue as to what the large bin is designed for. Would be nice to see a pic of a loaded up bin, wouldn't it?
I love the concept of the bin. I am just not able to figure out how to use the one that I got. Anyone have any suggestions?

You have to be careful on these part numbers. If I remember correctly the sunglass holder insert part number was for 6 of the inserts. I have not bought one yet, buut I would like to get my sunglasses out of the rubber tray in the dash.

we packaged the binserts in packs of 6 to help reduce cost for teh dealership.

$71 for one binsert is not correct. there is a post that shows all the costs of the packages. I don't recall the price for 1 binsert. i will try to located the post with the detailed binsert proces

Jimmy, i am not familiar with any clip on the outside of a bin for the rail. possibly it was for another Ford overhead console???? there is a front console we are currently working on (when rail is not included) that has a "ticket clip" on the outside. maybe this console was what you got a part nubmer for??????

I will look into that too

I'm dying for a satellite radio that works with the audiophile radio. Will the product you're working on retrofit to the '04 models?

Thanks,

George

gglines. the sat module will work for 04 model, that is the plan to date, the exception being that the 04 will require an install of the wireharness we are working on too.( and just possibly the dvd as it has the CAN bus logic bult in, and required for the aux use of the radio) I'll keep everyone updated as it is finalized

LSU I spoke with the program manager on the Ford team regarding the single bin prices, he confirmed that a single bin may be between $70-100 because it is considered like a service part.

it would be better to order a kit for example to get 2 bins, 3 binserts and some other accessories

Dr. No summarized the kits for me in a previous post

FTE Strikes Again!

I reported that I had been to my dealer to get the sunglasses "binsert" and was quoted $71.xx and shown a drawing of a bin with two glasses clips on the outside of the door. rambunctious replied to this thread and included the part numbers.
I printed this thread and went back to my dealer. They read the posts and looked again at the part number-sure enough the price was for 6 binserts, not just 1.
I'll have one on Monday. Let you know what I get.
Thanks for the good info. I'm sure glad that I know somebody that knows how its supposed to work!

I just ordered the Freeway package from Ford. They charged me $150 and some change, so there's not a big mark-down from the suggested retail price. Also, they won't ship it to my home. After all, it's a simple clip-on device. I'll have to drive 40 miles (round trip) to pick it up. Oh well, another great excuse to drive the truck!

315 miles so far...
