Diablo Quetions, for Ken

I re-posted to get a response from Ken Payne.

I am considering the purchase of a Diablosport or Delta chip. I have a few questions.

My vehicle is a 2001 SD, with a V-10. Modifications include Granatelli MAF, K&N FIPK, Accufab TB, Borla cat-back dual exhaust.

I will be adding Thorley long-tube headers w/ y-pipe within the next two weeks. Is it necessary or advised to revise the tune of computer to take advantage of the headers?

I currently have a Superchips 1200 series chip. I have been told that it is cost prohibitve to re-program this chip for the headers. Is this correct? I did not purchase this chip from Motorhaven.

I can not find the four digit computer box code. The sticker on the door has wore off to the point that it illegible. The black cap on the computer box is no where to be found, I think that is also where the code was, correct? What can I do to recover the original box code? If there isn't any way to recover the code, would it be possible for you to read it from the Superchip?

I am not sure which Diablo to purchase. I really want to get the most performance possible, but premium is almost $.20 higher per gallon. Maybe a Delta 2 stage custom/stock would be the answer.

What are the added costs to custom program a Diablo. Is this a common tuning method for Motorhaven, i.e. headers? If so, what have the customers' resposes been? I know I will have to complete a custom tune sheet, but is there any other information that I need to provide?

Thanks Ken, looking forward to doing business soon.

Yes, you'll need custom programming for the long tube headers. This is not to "take advantage" but to insure the check engine light doesn't come on and the computer goes into open loop operation due to a false O2 reading.

Superchips no longer provides custom tunes. They've discontinued all of it for chips.

The 4 digit computer code can be found on the computer box where the wiring harness is bolted to it (firewall, driver's side).

I generally recommend a stage two... keep in mind that the first stage is not programmed. Its merely "off".

Chip and custom prices are here:

We've done so many custom programs I've lost count, from headers to superchargers, you name it (even doing one for a turbocharged Escort soon!).

Please don't repost to get a response. The reason I'm taking longer than normal to respond is because the company is in the process of moving to a new location. That takes a lot of extra time away from me. I get to all posts, no repost is needed and it doesn't speed up responses (it causes more work).
