Smile Superduty V10 chip pros and cons

I have a 2004 F350 V10 6 speed with code HLS1.

From what I've read the advantages of the Superchips Microtuner will not be usable with this truck (tire size, auto trans shift, ...) except the ability to read codes. Also if I am away and suddenly need to tow something I better have it with me so I can switch to the stock or tow safe mode.

With the Predator I "think" I will have a slightly more aggresive program but haven't seen if I can tow with it safely. ?? but like the idea of just having a toggle switch to choose the program. Can anyone comment on how to use the predator when towing? switch off or is it safe to leave on? Usually just tow a car trailer so maybe up to 6 or 7k or less.

Looking at this for a spring time upgrade and need to figure out what's best for me.

Thanks for any input, I know little to nothing about this subject.

There is no Predator for Ford gas engines except the Lightning and the Cobra.

A Diablo Delta switch chip can be programmed for it. Yes, you can tow with it, or we can make a program specifically for it (ie, change torque convertor lockup params for towing).

Changing the torgue converter lockup params is going to be a big help for this guy Ken... Get some sleep man!

The truck will have a little more power, probally not noticeable with a chip and the speed limiter can be taken off, there is no need to remove the chip to tow, you will need to run at least 89 octane with a chip, but you will get 2mpg better unloaded so use your best judgement. Your tires arn't big enough to worry about, but it is nice to read codes, but then again auto zone does that for free. If you had a auto I would tell you to jump on a Diablo, but being a manual I would say look elsewhere, just my $0.02

I'd bet he was just catching his second wind.

That does answer if I can tow with the Diablo Delta Chip on, I saw the Microtuner had a tow safe program and couldn't find the answer for towing with the Diablo on.

I'm going to keep reading so I can get a better understanding on the programers and chips.

Thank you,

Because Diablo tends to have a bit more timing than Superchips, if you're towing heavy loads use good quality, name brand fuel of the highest octane you can find. Carry a bottle of octane booster just in case, though its rare to have problems. Just remember that octane booster, best case, is going to give maybe 1 full point of octane (not 3-8 like most claim).

I've only run into a problem with ping while towing on one occasion and it was very minor.

Chips are programmed for premium, 89 isn't enough.
