Humm, it sounds like it should haul it fine - provided there is not too much additional weight in the truck or pulling stuff. I haul 1200 pounds without trouble.
................My 20 foot gooseneck trailer and tractor weighed 15,000 pounds. When hooked to my 99 psd, f250 ,4x4 it would put approximately ...5,000.... pounds over the rear axle. But, i had also added a 5 leaf overload spring pack to my rear axle. I pulled this load around for 4 years with no trouble. s.kuterman..
I think ford caved in to the people who like to ride around in a truck and made the springs softer. I know my 2000 f350 would hold about 575lbs more weight before it started saging then my 2004 f350. and the 2000 didnt have the overload springs.
I had 8 and a half squares of shingles in my truck yesterday and I was just touching the over loadeds never mine it wasn't even close to the stops. 26 bundles @ 70lbs a piece=1820lbs. You must have different springs. Unless you have the f250 because mine is a f350 and I do have the 4" blocks where as the f250 has the 2" blocks on the axle.

You have any problems with your 285 BFG tires rubbing, I was thinking of putting some 295's or 305BFG A/T's on my truck.
295/75/16 will rub for sure I have 305/70/16 on 8 inch wheels and they rub on inner fender when you turn it all the way to the right. but it only rubs on driver side. you know 295 is the same height as 315/75/16. been looking for a tire that is at and will last on psd the bfg wear out to quick on my trucks and have tryed the pro comp at not much better about 22k is the best I have been able to get of course I pull a good load.
I can run 315/70/16 Goodyear a/t's on my 99 F-350 4x4 supercab 7.3 longbed and 2000 sametruck and have no rubbing problems but the front seems to sit a little lower on the 04 and heard of people having problems with the rubbing.I can get 45-50000 miles on a set of goodyears.

the truck creaked and groaned all the way home. the bed was at the stops.
the dodge never went to the stops with one pallet of sod. i wonder why?
It's strange that this trucks frame stops would be on the axle with only 2200 pounds.
I can drop a weighed 1000 pounds of trailer tongue weight on a pull hitch and my F250 will barely squat to the overloads - hardley needs the equalizer bars. The pull trailer hitch has added mechanical advantage on the springs since it is a foot behind the bumper.
