FIPL sensor sends info to the tranny computer to tell it when to shift.Set it up as follows;disconnect wire from the high idle sens, turn key on,engine off, check the voltage between the centre wire and either wire on the plug on the filp sens with the plug in place on the sens(use paper clips or such to push into the back of the wires on the plug and use them to put the meter leads onto)there are 3 wires on the plug. You are looking for 1.0 volts. If you do not have the proper reading loosen the 2 screws for the sens and rotate the sens to achieve the 1.0 volt setting. You wont have to move it much to see a change in voltage.

So what does that acronym(FIPL) stand for, if you kno please,
& is that setting up a standard procedure when & if I.P. is R&R'd?
The reason I ask is my BlueBeast had inj. & pump rebuild,Got her outta sickbay & I have never had the E4OD work so efficiently since I've owned her!!
At any speed she grabs the desired gears upshifting or down!!
Love my Beast

FIPL-fuel injection pump lever.I would say if after a r&r of the ip you are having shift patern probs then that would be the 1st thing to check,i dont know if the re-builders set them.In my case it was not set,so out came the meter, and all was well after setting it up.i was having rough and hard shifts.

Try setting it up again. When looking for the 1.0 volts engine should be warmed up 1st.Then shut off engine, turn key to run position(engine still not running)and set to the 1.0 volt. You may have to go a range from 0.98 to 1.10 to find what works best to suit your driving habits, take your time and drive it after every setting change to see what works best for you.
