better mpg

does anyone make a chip for a 94 (5.0L) that can increase gas mileage? and maybe be able to make good power too?

No, they aren't made for mileage. Any mileage gained is offset by the requirement to use premium fuel.

theres none out there that can do so? it seems that as easily as they can modify timing, air/fuel ratio, fuel maps and such that it could easily be done.

Useable and safe air/fuel ratios fall into a narrow range.

Sure, we could program for better mileage, but it would accelerate like slug, require special plugs and would generally run like crap. If they could get better mileage with 87 octane without sacrificing performance, they would have done it with the stock tune.

If you want better mileage and more power from the same volume of fuel without making physical changes to the vehicle, it has to be programmed for premium fuel. You can't get something for nothing.

I get the same question often, and unfortunately its just wishful thinking!
