Thumbs up Hard shifting 4EOD - Answer!!!!!!

Here is some good info on transmission.

The shop finaly found the problem on my hard shifting in fourth gear. I had a small kick when the trany was shifting in 4. First, They removed the pan and removed the accumulator body valve. Their was two spring, one into another, in the fourth gear accumulator. Thew removed the inner spring and it did nothing. They replace the unit with another rebuilt and the problem was fixed. The new accumulator had two spring also but the small inner one was smaller than the previous.

Now the trany shift very good, no kick, runs very smooth. Those springs affect the way the trany acts when changing gear. The hard shiffting could be affected by the pump.

So if your's shift too hard, or too smooth, check this out, it does not seem to be a very hard task. Just drop the pan, remove the body valve, pull out the little piston in the accumulator, check the springs.
