Question stick to auto, changing steering collum?

I have a 94 150 that i'm going to convert to automatic. What years will work on my 94? Also do i have to worry about the air bag going off when taking the collum out?

Thanks,
Brian

solemn column comments

YES! Be careful that you "power down" the airbag system properly before attempting to remove the bag, wheel, or any component of the column. Ford shop manuals give the SAFE procedures to follow.

Columns from any 94-96 F150 or Bronco should interchange. F250/350 (& pre 92-93 F-150 / Broncos) have some differences since they do not have the airbag system.

While you are at it, have you considered upgrading to a tilt column if your truck does not already have one? In fact, if it does you may be able to use the column from any 92-96 F-Series / Bronco (or from several of the car lines) & just cannibalize parts to build your column.

Further, if you are changing to an overdrive (E4OD or 4R70W)tranny you will need to see to hooking up the wiring for the lockout switch. If you are using a C-6 you will not.

thanks for your help. I will probably just pull my collum out and go to the junk yard and start comparing.

Thanks,
Brian
