Talking 1940 and 41 Sedan Delivery's

Hi, I am building a 1941 Sedan Delivery and need some parts and though I would ask if any one might have some extra parts or know a source. Been looking for a set of cowl stainless trim parts and a passenger side rear fender. Because someone decided in the past to radiused out the original pair of rear fenders if I can get a set of junk ones (think any of the 1939 & 40 car or 40 to 47 pickup rear fenders would maybe close enough to work) to cut out the wheel lips and about 2 to 3 inches to weld them back. Need the body top mounted rear door hinge, I think it could be the same as a Divers side door lower body hinge if not I could probably make one work. Also a set of rear bumper brackets, and pair of taillights assembles or just the taillight mounting brackets. With the exception of the cowl trims all the other parts should be the same as the 1940 Sedan Delivery and maybe a 1939. Looking for a Ford accessory front bumper grill guard, and set of Unity fog lights, a stock 1940 standard model dash and speedometer unit, glove box door, steering wheel, steering column tube with stock shifter. Hoping to get it on the road for this summer. Looking for some street rod type frame and chassis parts too. Thank you very much, Bob

I have a complete 40-47 Ford PU gauge panel insert with working gauges. The frame has been nickel plated and the glass is perfect. This is ready to slip into the dash opening and fasten. I was going to use it for my 40 PU but didn't.

I don't think Ford had truck speedos up around 100 MPH before 1948. If you want original equipment in your dash it will have to be aftermarket stuff. That's why I didn't use the one I have.

Hi Elder Rodder,

Yes your right that the bigger Ford trucks did not have speedo's that went to 100 MPH. Mostly this is in the 1 ton trucks (I don't know about the 3/4 ton's have not looked at one) because they had very low rear axle gears and a 4 speed that’s why the Speedo only goes to 60 and it has shift points on it (to use like a Tach) so people did not over rev the engines in lower gears. The Ford cars and light pickups back as far as the middle 1930's had speedometers that read to 100 MPH it was standard equipment (maybe back as far as 1932 I had one and think it did but it been a long time ago). If you would like I can send you some pictures of the 2 (Standard and Deluxe) 1940 & the 41 100 MPH gauge panels for cars and 1/2 ton pickups they are all the same size outside and will interchange. Also you can have any early Speedo and gauge panel recalibrate to go to 120 or 160 MPH the gauges can also be reworked for use with the late style engines. United Speedometer Service does it and I have seen their work, it is excellent I don’t know what it would cost to have done. Check their site you will see they do Repairs & Calibration, check out the ENCORE Gauges section shows how nice a rebuilt stock panel can look.
