Transmission Case??

My 02 Explorer XLT 2WD, wasn't shifting gears properly. First the dealer said that it was the Cervo. After they replaced that they found that it was a far worse problem. They are now replacing the Transmission case ($1500). Has anyone else had this same problem? I feel like I might have a "Lemon".
