Warranty Question

Is it true Ford will void the warranty on either the truck or the engine if you add a snowplow to a pickup equipped with the 6.0?

Go to YOUR dealer and ask "that or the" question.
The problem is we are not seeing any consistency in how these independent dealership deal with warranty of aftermarket equipment. It seems to be both regional and ad hock at best......sometimes.

Of course, as you realize, the actual warranty document is the final rule. The problem frequently presented is when the "dealership" says that a given issue is not covered, when they simply do not want to do the work. Secondly, far to many drivers readily accept the statement from dealership staff.

Keep in mind, the actual warranty instrument would have to be carefully read to determine is the snowplow addition is excluded. The exclusion would have to be rather specific and unambiguous -- for if there is any confusion in the reading of the document, courts have ruled against the authors (originators of the document, not the party seeking coverage)

By the way, if the warranty is between Ford (not the dealership) and the Truck buyer, it is Ford who would have to respond to the issue, not the dealership. For the dealership simply sold the product (warranty), just as they did the truck.

Very good point, about the "warranty is between Ford (not the dealership) and the Truck buyer, "
Why then does it seem to be so subjective with these dealers?
You would think that the dealership would want to fix as many problems as possible.

Because, that is what the dealership wants you (the truck owner) to believe. Keep in mind, as you & others have alerted, the dealership does not get as much for the "warranty" work, as it does for their regular repair work--prices levied by the dealership to off-the-street repair customer.

Could it be that it now becomes a commercial vehicle with a different set of guidelines?

The 7.3 I traded in got the same mileage...12.8, so I'm not too surprised although I was expecting somewhat better. Can't wait to hook up the horse trailer. The 7.3 got 10mpg pulling that. I very hesitant to take the truck to the dealer. They may improve the mileage but might also cause other problems.
