Unplugging the EGR on '03

Fm JSxFX4 over at ford-trucks
The newer flashes for the 2003 nearly completely disables the EGR
Can this statement be supported over here. ??

I've always blocked off the EGR on all race cars because it makes the intake cooler. I can see where this could make the 6.0 run cleaner but before I unplug mine...

1. What is the default position of the valve if unpluged? The manual doesn't say.
2. It is questionable whether the EGR actually reduces overall emissions. Some it reduces, some it increases. Are we prepared to risk the enviroment for undefined and probably marginal gains?
3. This engine may need the EGR as part of the exhaust cooling strategy.
I may test this next week against last weeks data.
