Question 79 250 4x4 pwr steering input shaft leak

After pressure wasking the box and frame I could finally see that I had not a hose or line leak but that the fluid was pouring out of the input shaft seal on the steering box.

Changing the box would probably be the easiest thing to do but would prefer to change the seal if possible now the only problem is that i wasnot sure as to what worm gear back lash or bearing preloadeds I would be getting into if any one has any info I would really be GREATFUL.

THANK YOU

bob arrington is new and has a neutral reputation at this point.
i may be wrong , but if that is the is th seal for the steering colum side , it can be replaced by removing the jam nut ,prying the old one out and tepping the new one in,something else you can do is add seal rejuvinator to your power steering and see if that will swell it up ,good luck, bob bob
