2.9 running rich

I got a 87 Ranger that just pours out black smoke(overfuelling).
I have chaged the following parts

cap,rotor,plugs and wires
O2 sensor (twice)
Map sensor
TPS
fuel pressure regulator
temperature sensor

Checked all ground connections and got good vacuum (no leaks). Could it be the injectors? It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does, it sucks on fuel. I dont even get 400 km to a tank of fuel.

First, stop replacing sensors and other parts until you test them.

Now, run KOEO codes, check your timing, and check your fuel pressure. Post your KOEO codes here, and I'll look them up in the 86 (close enough for an 87 2.9) Ford H manual and give you the pinpoint tests.

Last thing - never try to guess gas mileage by how many kilometers you get to an average tank. Fill the tank completely and reset the triptometer. Calculate miles per gallon or liters per 100km when you fill back up based on distance and fuel volume required to refill the tank. Keep a record and you can see if the difference really is significant, or if it's a certain station where the pumps shut off sooner, etc...

How do you run the KOEO codes. Do I have to buy anything to do this or just take it to a garage?

You can do it with a 12v test light or an analog voltmeter, or you can get a code reader at any auto parts store or even WalMart for about $20.

Ken00 has posted instructions in a tech info post at the top of the BroncoII forum. Another site I like for the EEC-IV tests is www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html
