Weld Stonecrushers............creaking&squeaking

I just had a 4" lift,35" BFG Mud terrains and 16.5x9.75 Weld Stonecrusher wheels installed.Well after a day I started hearing a clicking noise(thought it was arock in the tire)I finally discoved it was the wheel and one by one they each started getting louder!
Well I took it back to 4WheelParts,they called the Weld factory rep.He said it was normal(RIGHT!)his solution was to put grease on my new $300ea wheels NICE!!The Weld rep also said it is not a defect, well the salesman said he would stand behind his product even if Weld won't (thanks 4Wheel)Said I could exchange the wheels!( I have 30 days to decide what I want)
By the way tried greasing the wheels(did not work)put some Wd40 on them(whole can)they were quiet for 5 days then the noise came back.
This bites, besides I really like the look of the wheel.

Weld Stonecrushers............creaking&squeaking

Hope I have better luck. I just ordered a set of four Parnelli Jones 36/14.50/16 tires mounted on Weld 16x10 Stonecrushers not 15 minutes before I read your post. :-( Mine are coming from National Tire & Wheel. I Guess I'll take my chances..... As you said 'I Really Like The Looks of them'!

Weld Stonecrushers............creaking&squeaking

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Mar-02 AT 01:54 PM (EST)]Doesn't it just suck! I have the same clicking with my Sidewinders and Conehead caps. I thought my hubs were going away on me. I too, called Weld and got the same wrong answer. They know about it and while he didn't say it was normal, he didn't have a decent fix for it either. I had already tried putting some clear silicone spots, equally spaced around the cap but that didn't last two days. The Weld rep said to try getting some clear tubing, like they use in fish aquariums, splitting it and running it under the edge of the cap where it contacts the wheel. I cut four, inch-long pieces and tried it. It definitely gets rid of the clicking but in my opinion, Weld needs to come up with a real fix. Like I told the rep, "I have a brand new thirty-five thousand dollar truck with over a thousand dollars worth of wheels that f'in CLICK when I go down the road! What's up with that!?"

Weld Stonecrushers............creaking&squeaking

I wish it was the caps.Thats the first thing that 4WheelParts did was take off the caps and we took it down the road and still the the damm frickin noise. On the Stonecrushers the outerbeadlock lookin thing is a seperate piece,it is some how bolted or pressed on.Weld said flex between the wheel and the beadlock ring causes the clicking/creaking sound! The fit is so tight there is no way to get grease in there(like they said to do),but silicone spray or equiv. will eventually make its way in and cure the problem for about 5 days.It makes a nice mess too, nothing like oil all over your nice new wheels!

Weld Stonecrushers............creaking&squeaking

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Mar-02 AT 06:59 PM (EST)]chadrock,
Yea,it sucks I have tried everything!
I have talked to some owners(of Stonecrushers)and they don't have a problem....Maybe just a bad batch of wheels.
4WheelParts is going to give me another set(of the same wheel)I hope I am not gluttin for punishment(I could of picked a different wheel),but I really like the looks them. And hope it was a bad batch of wheels.I have emailed Weld Racing to let them know what I think about there noisy wheels!!

Weld Stonecrushers............creaking&squeaking

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Mar-02 AT 08:07 PM (EST)]At least 4wheel parts said they'd give you a new set of wheels. The shop that did mine says they can't do anything. They first told me it was my four wheel drive hubs clicking because they are unlocked in 2 wheel drive, but when I engage 4 wheel drive, the clicking is still there. I also just wrote to weld from that link you gave me.
