FortyFords - Can you help please?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Mar-02 AT 01:04 PM (EST)]Below is a quote from one of your recent helpful replies to a post regarding the ABS controller. Even though I am usually successful searching for info on this site, I have done several searches for the post you refer to below and can not get it in my results. If you can locate it again and direct me to it's location, I would be grateful. Thank you very much!

He believed it was from all the water that splashs up into the engine area."

Yes ,
I just reveiwed the post where it was stated.
I have sent a email to the party about the ABS controller.

What it was ,he stated that his abs was replaced due to water being splashed in from the fender well opening. That was all that was said.

It was inresponse to a post I created about why Ford had not put the extra splash sheild on my 02 f250 4x4,like the excursions have.
I have since installed those sheilds.

When I get a response email from them I will relay any further info that
they have or ask that he post an info post to the forum.

Hope this helps!
I will keep you updated

Shepard. Forty Fords contacted me by email and I told him of the problem I had. The ABS fault was a direct result of cleaning ( hosing) out the engine comparment. My truck see's over a hundred trips a year on a sand beach and through cleanup I came across this problem. Whether degreasing or just cleaning up any overspray onto the modual will cause havoc. First time,ABS went on and stayed on, brakes worked OK but don't know if ABS worked. Modual replaced and all was fine. Next time even though I knew to keep the hose away I got an ABS light that came and went for a week and finally went off by itself. That thing can't take any water at all. Trimman

Thanks everyone. The original question had to do with my ABS module making an increased amount of noise as it "energizes". The engine compartment has never been washed, so it is not the same issue. So far as I can tell, with the exception of the noise, the brakes and ABS dash light seem to be functioning as they should.

I've been "SimpleGreen and Hosing" the engines on my vehicles for 15 years and never had any problems. They are pretty water tight. Monsta, if you go with the "Wipe the whole thing down with a Rag" route, you will be there till Doomseday! ( and get arthritis ):-X23
