fuel canister

Hey guys this is more out of curiousity than anything urgent... What is the fuel canister located halfway back along the drivers side frame? The gasket blew on mine and it just made me wonder, the guys at the dealership didn't have a clue... It is low pressure right? Thanks guys.

It's a fuel filter housing with nothing in it. Go figure. Someone mentioned that it's used on diesels only, dont know if thats true or not. It is low pressure.

It's a reservoir. At one point it was used as a filter housing, but after that the size was reduced a bit and it was used purely as a reservoir for the high pressure pump to draw from.
