In my humble and uneducated opinion, Houckster is to be recognized for his dedication to such a product as SynLube. As he stated quite clear, he has made over $10 million a year over the past couple of years. It takes great devotion to push a product in which you have no interest. If I made over 10 mill a year, I wouldnt be concerned enough about someone elses oil company to support their product.
I visited the SynLube site. I did find "The Proof" of Houcksters claim to SynLubes greatness. http://www.synlube.com/pr01.htm
In this press release are pictures of cars with odometers, and some basic math skills illustrating savings in dollars. I found some vicosity numbers and temperatures listed. Although in all fairness, I couldnt find a single reference to data collected thru lab studies.
Might someone share some research information other than cars with odometers.
Might I suggest something in a
http://www.mercedes-benz.com/com/e/ or maybe even a http://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/
In light of my findings, I'm going to stick with the old ways of silly oil changes.
Thanks for the info anyways.

Exclamation Misquote

That was 10 billion, not million. I'm not poor you know.

As far as info from lab studies, remember that this is a site that dedicated to laymen (and, obviously, propective customers), not other scientists. It has to be accessible to guys like who have no technical background. Also as I have remarked before, it's my belief that SynLube is attempting to present more substance than anyone else's site that I've seen and I've looked at Royal Purple, Redline, Mobil 1, Castrol and Amsoil.

You're right, you did say you made 10 billion dollars. That must be in Afgan dollars. If it was American dollars, I would have seen you around at the club.
I had no idea Ted Turner was a FTE user, and you have not driven your 10 billion dollar Ranger to the club. Oh, and my next question......how does a multi billionare become concerned about his own personal savings in motor oil changes in a Ford Ranger? Seems to me a couple hundred dollars in oil savings would be of little concern. If you were to impress people with SynLube, I would expect you to have it in your fleet of vintage Bentleys and such, not in your Ranger as listed.
Although I must say I do appreciate your candor.

$10 billion and you're driving a Ranger? I'd be driving a Ford GT (with or without the "40" on the end) or a Lambo. Heck, I'd have a collection of 'em.

Of course, if it's 10 billion peso's, it'd be different.

I dont think I'll be changing. I've got 190,000 miles on a '92 explorer, and it still runs like new.

Concerning the economics stated on the synlube site, I dont spend anywhere near the $24.32 per oil change they say is the average. $5 filter from napa, plus 5x$0.89/quart oil, is $9.45 per oil change. So changing at 3000 miles, I'm still saving money over synlube. The oil I use is normally $1.60/quart, but I buy it in bulk on sale. It goes on sale about once a year.

Depends on the oil you use. I use Mobil-1 and a Wix filter. Total price ends up being about $26 per oil change, but my service manual says to change the oil every 5000 miles. So I don't change quite as often.

Okay, okay... SynLube is a sucess. At parting you from your money. I've given the SynLube fans the benefit of the doubt and tried to consider it all as opinion from an enthusiastic user. But all of the cheerleading and the lack of any real product data sheets leaves me with the impression that FTE is just being used for free advertising. It goes against the spirit of the "No Dealers/Prefered Customers" policy.
