Hi all! Just a quick hello, as I have just found this site.

Quite an informative (and somewhat scary) message board. I have spent the last hour or two reading the posts.

I am buying a 2004 F-250 4x4 CrewCab w/ auto trans. and am hoping I won't be on here with my own horror story. I pick up my truck on Weds. I don't know the build date of the engine yet, but I will be looking as soon as I get it.

I'm optimistic about the purchase, but still have reservations. This is also my first diesel anything. I have read the Owners guide and the diesel supplement.

Just wanted to say HI and that I appreciate all the posts for newbies like me to lurk and read.

Any help or advice for a new diesel owner would be appreciated!

Congrats and welcome to the site. As Andy says, "drive it like ya stole it." You'll love it...

 

Make sure its not an early one check the manufacture date unless of course you ordered it.. Look the truck over and check everything B4 accepting it noting every bump dent scratch that might be there check the paint also. Take your time Test drive check brakes etc... Good luck....

 

You won't be sory. I ordered mine in november, runs great ,sounds great, looks great. No problems at all.

 

I'm sure that will be the case but the horor stories I read of guys not even looking at their trucks and the dealer saying that wasn't there type of stuff....
