Rust pits treatment advice

I have sanded down to bare metal on the metal work and found, on many horizontal surfaces, small rust pits that I can,t sand away. What is the proper way to fill these little imperfections? Gene

Treat with a rust converter (Rust Mort, Metal Ready, & etc.). Spray with epoxy primer. Fill with body filler.

The other option is to spot them with a mig welder.

I would sandblast to get into the pits. A handheld or siphon blaster will be okay for small areas. Or at least get a wire brush on a drill to get into the pits. Then do what aek said and rust converter and epoxy prime. Oops sorry, missed what you were asking the first time. They pits won't totally sand away, you will have to fill them.

you could do like we do on the f-16's and get out the rotary file to make sure the hole pit goes away. definitely won't corode back again after that, but then you got a nice little dip in your metal :-P

use of rust converter

How do you use this rust converter on a panel? Is it spray on wipe off? Or do you then spray the epoxy primer right over the rust converter? are there any compatibility issues?

you can spray it or brush it on and epoxy over it. I haven't run into any compatibility issues
