BroncoRedneck is starting off with a positive reputation.
steering swap

i just put a '79 high pinion open nuckle disk brake dana 60 under the front end of my 1974 f-250 supercab and the steering unit that i am attempting to swap into the truck is out of an '86 f-250. The problem that I come to is that the '86 steering tie rods have tie rod ends that are markedly smaller than that of the '79 dana 60. My question is this: Can I buy new tie rod ends at a parts store with the same diameter shaft as the previous tie rod with the bigger ends to fit mine? Also I know that I am going to have to plate the frame to make that steering gear box bolt up so I don't buckle the frame, are there any other modifications that I need to be aware of in order to do this?

Jimbare is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
i dont think this is going to work. i beleive you are going to run into a problem with the tierods hitting the springs. the 80 up box is much shorter top to bottom than the 79 is. i may be wrong, but i dont think it will work.
