What symptoms come from a stuck thermostat?
Just a question,
If your Thermostat is stuck open, (or missing) what problems would you encounter? (besides the obivous low water temp).
Would the vehicle run really rich? Would you get the smell of fuel in your oil?
My BII runs really rich, but sometimes it will "snap out of it" and will have more power then I know what to do with. This only lasts for a gear or two. The temp never reaches above the lower line in "Normal"
I have replaced the TPS, and had the carb partially rebuilt.
Any suggestions?

Yes, a thermostat that is stuck open (or any other condition that causes the engine to run too cold or make the computer think it's running too cold) will cause the engine to run rich. The computer operates in warm up mode, and one of the things the computer does in warm-up mode is to run rich.
At least, that's the way the 2.9 (EFI) works, and I believe it's the same for the 2.8.

As I thought!
Well, I ripped into the thermostat, and to my surprise, there wasn't one!
I got 1 185 deg thermo and stuck it in... (thanks Jimmy James for the suggestion!)
Works like a charm!
Now, I have another problem, but I will make a new thread for it... If you guys could help, please do!
Thanks again!
