Question Idle Change And Air Sound 98 Ford Explorer.

I BOUGHT A 1998 FORD EXPLORER ALMOST 1 YEAR AGO AND EVER SINCE I PURCHACED I I HAVE HEARD AN SOUND WHEN EVER THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. AND THE IDLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN WHAT I THOUGHT WAS LOW. THE IDLE HAS ALWAY BEEN ABOUT 600 RPM'S. I NOTICED YESTURDAY WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN THAT IT SEEMED TO TO BE PULLING A LITTLE HARD THAN USUAL .
I LOOKED DOWN AT THE RPM GAUGE AND IT WAS AT 1000-1200 RPM'S AND THE AIR SOUND IS STILL THE SAME. I'M THINKING THAT THE TPS MAY BE GOING BAD, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE AIR SOUND IS FROM, BECAUSE THE ENGINE AND DRIVABILITY HAS BEEN FINE BUT, IT KINDA SOUNDS LIKE A VACUUM LEAK. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS OF WHAT MAY BE HAPPENING I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO SPEND A BUNCH OF MONEY WITH TRIAL AND ERROR. THANKS KENNETH.

Use a short piece of garden hose etc like a stethoscope & see if you can pinpoint the noise. Start with the Idle air control valve.
