I am not sure, I bought the FX4 but from what I heard they do not sell a STX with a Tach, however I heard that if you hold the button on the odometer while starting the truck it will go into test mode, after that you can scroll through the options and one is believe it or not a tach

There is an article somewhere about changing the entire insturment cluster to fx4 style. It was not hard to do but you need to get a ford dealer involved. The new cluster needs to be programed and only a ford dealer can do it. Cost was about $400.00 to $450.00. all ford dealers may not want to do it.

Yeah, that too....... I think I saw the switch somewhere....

It would be visible the entire length of the ride..... only downfall is when you turn the truck off you have to do it again. I mean I was just trying to tell you a trick.

The STX doesn't have a tach, and I do not believe that they manufactured any with a tach. If I ever really want to see my RPMS, I start the truck while holding the trip meter button. Then, I repeatedly press it until the tach appears.

There was a post here about replacing the stock instrument cluster with an FX4 one purchased and installed at a dealership. I'm thinking about this, but it is pricey....

see the "replaced stock instrument cluster" thread. A guy from oklahoma says he replaced his stx cluster with factory lariat cluster with no problems and for less than $400.
