It will work just fine, they are almost a direct bolt on.You will need to turn the center bolt on the Explorer spring pack over for it to fit your BII, other then that they are a direct swap. They will give your BII some lift in the rear and a lot better ride.

I have a question about this topic because I want to do the same thing to my truck...

Do I have to put bigger shocks on the rear and do I have to put Bronco II U bolts and other leaf hardware on the Explorer leaf springs or put the Explorer U Bolts and leaf hardware on the Explorer leafs?

You will not need longer shocks for the 1.5"-2" lift the explorer leafs will give you. Your Bronco II U-bolts would work, except that they are almost always rusted too badly to reuse. If the U-bolts have been on there for a while it's a good idea just to plan on replacing them rather than getting stuck with everything apart and needing them. And you might consider new spring and shackle bushings too while you've gone to all the work of removing the leafs.

Another thing to consider, I was all set to do the swap on mine until I saw how rusty all the junk yard ones were (I'm in Michigan and there's a lot of salt on our roads). I decided not to go through the trouble of putting on rusty explorer leafs that are probably nearing the end of their life anyway. For the time and effort I think the new replacement leafs offered by Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for $235 (bushings included) are a better choice. They're listed as heavy duty so my feeling is they will sag a little less and might provide a similar lift to what the explorer leafs would. I'll be buying/installing them next winter. Just my 2 cents.

Should I get Bronco II or Explorer u bolts, center pins and other hardware?
Or does it really matter will the Explorer hardware work on my Bronco II?

If you need ubolts or any other hardware send me a message. We bend all our ubolts from straight rods so I can make whatever you need. You should go with new ubolts atleast. They stretch over time and cause issues down the road if you try and re use older ones.

There's a chance the Explorer's 8.8 rear axle has a larger outside diameter than the Bronco's 7.5. I'm really not sure. For that reason alone though I would try to stay with the Bronco II U-bolts. Otherwise I think everything else is pretty much identical.

He is absolutely correct. The explorer U-bolts are slightly wider so you can get them over the axle. We make ours right around 3-1/4" wide.
