Talking Cat gutting

What is the easiest way to gut a cat for a 87 f150 I put a cherry bomb glass pack on it in place of the muffler and it didnt make much difference in sound so i wanted to gut the cat not remove it

1.) Do you need to meet emissions?
2.) Is there a visual check in youre area?
3.) Why not run a high flow catalytic convertor?
4.)Resale values can be markedly decreased when emissions components are removed.
5.) Think of the children... Serioulsy, we have enough crap in our air to begin with. There is no need to purposely add more for 1 extra horse power.

It is not for horsepower it is for sound. They do visualy check to see if you have a converter but the cover hides any cuts or welds

it wont change the sound much at all.

i have a friend with a 95 dakota with the 318, all he has is a y pipe after the cat with a glasspack, and on my truck i have the 351w with true duals, catalytic converter removed and 2 18" glasspacks and we parked our trucks side by side, at idle they are just as loud, mine is slightly louder when we rev em up. mine just cackles more. overall it doesnt really change anything if you mess with the cat.

im glad i got ridda mine but i dont suggest it to everyone, it doesnt do much difference.

My truck with no 2nd cat is MUCH louder than it was with both cats intact. Power gain was minimal but evident...

i used a long piece of 1/2 round stock and a BFH. cut the pipe off behind the cat and drive the rod through. then bend the end of the rod slightly and repeat. start up the truck and rev to help clean it out.

If you do that, make sure you don't breath any of that junk in!! The heavy metals in there will make you very ill. Also don't do it where kids play or anything like that... some bad stuff in that cat.

cut a hole in the side of the cat that you can see and dig the guts out , patch it with the same piece and a weld or some goop , good luck, bob btw the weld is best.
