4.0 Performance upgrades
I have a97 4.0 and I was wondering if a BBK throtle body, K&N filter, the whole thing not just the filter, and a gibson cat back would help performance enough to be worth the money, and my other question is, is anyone in here running a supercharger on their 4.0 and if you are, what brand are you running and do you like it, my 97 has 23XXX miles on it now so I figure before I get the mileage to high I should put one on if they make it, Thanks a lot

Welcome to FTE
I have a Gibson cat-back on my 93. Best money spent so far. The sound is much better, louder without being overbearing, and a much deeper tone with a noticeable performance gain. This went on after my intake, which is the KKM True Rev which is a cone filter that attatches to the factory air intake and replaces the whole air box. If you want the whole kit, I would look for a true cold air kit that has a heat shield. I'm not sure who all makes them. The cold air kits are better because colder air is denser and will make the most power. Or you could do what I did and make your own heat shield if you get one with out it. I don't know much about the throttle bodies, but I wouldn't do that until after you do an intake and exhast, otherwise I can't imagine that it would do too much since you won't be flowing enough to need it. Probably the best bang for the buck would be a performance chip. I'm saving for the Diablo Delta, available at MotorHaven.com, which supports this site. It's $229.95 for the Delta which you can turn on and off, or $211.95 for the sport that is alway on. Either give you the same tune I believe. In reading lots of posts about them, they are the best performance add on you can get besides supercharging and cheaper than most other performance mods. Just click where it says parts shop up in the upper right hand corner of this page and it will take you there. Good luck.

Comp Cams offers a nice step up from stock cam for the 2.9 & 4.0 OHV engines that is the best single step you can take for bottom end torque/hp and even slightly better mpg...
Super Charger would make it a very hot setup... The 3.0 SHO engine would be similar and might be able to be easily adapted to work... Be careful here the SHO only runs about 7.5:1 compression that 4.0 will be pushing 9:1 much boost will cause problems as your total compression with the super charger will jump far too high for pump gas.
