79 F150 Ranger Front suspension

This might be a dumb question I know, but the front suspension looks pretty complex on my 79 F150 Ranger lariet. Its different than my 77 custom. Is it some kind of special package or something that came on the Rangers or what?? I cant really describe it because I didnt take a good look at it, all i know is its totally different than my 77..

It should be the same. The Ranger is just a trim package

Hmmm I will have to look at it again, I could have swore it looks different. The 79 looks like it could handle alot more weight.

Is one of them a Camper Special? They had dual shocks and bigger diameter coil springs. I think 4x4's also had dual shocks up front.

Not all 4x4's had dual shocks I think it might depend on the gvwr rating on the truck Im not sure, I know the trailer specials came with dual shocks up front My 77 has dual shocks but I dont think its factory cause it didnt say it as an option on my build sheet but the gvwr on mine is 6500 lbs dont know if that is normal or on the heavier side for the F150.?

Quad shocks were an option, and I'm guessing that option increased the GVWR a little. Mine with quad shocks is 6500. My dad has an almost identical truck without the quad front shocks and his is 6300.
