I am about to recharge my K&N air filter for the first time...any advice before I start...i am a little nervous bc I have heard all the MAF sensor issues and stuff...just looking for for any info you guys think will help....
When I did it (and ive NEVER had a problem with it) I had a big big bucket. I was shocked to see how dirty it was. Also, be patient with the oiling. It will take like 5 mins to absorb and be completely uniform.
Ill be honest with you. The reason I recharged mine was because my volant air filter comes as a medium blue color. It was grey when I was Az on leave. I think the rule is every time you change oil. But I could be wrong, as I think that pertains to paper filters. Its a pretty straight forward deal though. I can say I usually neglect the air intake I have. I know k&n says how long to change or clean it on the box.
Every 20k miles. If you live in dusty conditions like I do here in NM, clean and charge every other oil change. These K&N filters are pretty hardy though, and if you want to clean and charge every 3k miles, knock yourself out.
I read on K&N' Website that it would go every 50,000 miles before a recharge, but I am sure in dusty climated it would be advisable to do it more often.
