anyone running ravin' exhaust on a V10

Just wanted to see if anybody was running any of these mufflers on a V10? If so, what muffler do you have and what does it sound like? I am leaning toward the flowmaster 70 series single 3" in and dual 2.5" out. I need to have the pipes custom bent and installed due to the very tight clearance on the drivers side. I would like one pipe to exit on each side of the truck. The closest Flowmaster dealer is about 50 miles away. So just wanted to see if these Ravin systems that mineke sells are any good.

I'm running a Flowmaster 53073 ( 70 Series, 3" Offset I/O). Just curious, but why do you want to split to two pipes after the muffler? The stock 3" tailpipe is mandrel-bent and is the same size as the Flowmaster cat-back pipe. Pretty good pipe already. See the topic "Exhaust Questions" in the Super Duty / Heavy Duty forum.

V10 Double tow:

Do you have a sound clip of the 70 series? I've heard the 40 series and it's just not my thing. Did the muffler do anything for your towing performance? I know FM says it will, but would rather hear from someone who actually tows. I woould like a little more sound, but not the loud Indy Car that I've heard before. Any towing power improvements is always a plus.

As for the Ravin, I've not heard anything on those yet either. Someone at Autoturbine was going to send me a clip of a V-10 CC a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting....

Sorry, no sound clip. FM's got clips for the 70 series with V8's but not for the V10. I personally like the sound, mellow enough but with a slight rumble. Kid across the street has a F250 SD with V8 & 40 series FM. Sounds like a rice burner on steroids. Absolutely awful when he gets on it!

Can't tell you if the towing was any better without doing some controlled testing, certainly couldn't have made it worse though! These kinds of mods are really incremental, a little here, a little there. The only thing I've heard that you'll really feel the difference is a computer mod. That's next. For you Keith, if what you're looking for is a little more sound and performance, then I think the 53073 is the right muff. Ordered mine from Summit and it was deliverd to the front door in 2 days ($104). It's such an easy install. I installed mine in less than an hour in my driveway. Cut, insert, weld, cut "J" hanger from the stocker and weld. If you don't have access to welding , you could probably clamp one in place and use a bolt-on hanger. The 40 series is shorter than the stock muff so you'll need to extend the tubing.

I ran Ravin on my El Camino 350, and a 91 GT 5.0 Ravin has a very deep tone, seems deeper than Flowmaster, but at the same time, the inside resonance was 5x worse than a Flowmaster of comparable chambers. Ravin uses a wave style design inside instead of chambers, but they directly compare each model with like the 2 chamber or 3 chamber flow. Ravin is a nice muffler IMO.
