'48 F6 Dump -Weight
Does anyone know the original weight of the 1948 F6 Dump truck. I am getting a ration of crap from DMV with a title swap. The title is from Idaho and they need the actual weight of the vehicle before they will issue a WA title.
Oh and they are really pissed that I paid sales tax in Idaho so they are trying to charge me the use tax anyways cause my auction price seems to low. 750.00 plus tax.
Any suggestions on where to look for this info or how to deal with the licensing issue?
Thanks

It looks like you will have to go to a local sand & gravel place
that has a scale due to so many different dump body weights.
The cab and chassis doesnt weight that much probably as
much as a full size F250 or so. Or just put down the gvw of
the truck. Example my 54 F800 is 10,950 empty and is registered
for 32,000 being true cause I'm always on an asphalt scale.
good luck!

Kevin,
The weight is best done as suggested by actually weighing it. The licensing and titling issue is a definite hassle in Washington. I found that differences exist for outlets for licenses. By that I mean that the personnel in some outlets are more knowledgeable about how to deal with such rigs. I got into a real battle over one F1 I have, and finally went to a different place. They knew how to give me a form to fill out that allowed me to describe all the needed work on the truck, and to thereby justify the low price I paid. They had no problem with just charging the sales tax on the actual paid amount. The typical deal is that many shops drag out a copy of "Cars & Parts" price guide and try to stick you with the #4 or #5 price value on a well worn rig. They will even try to use the pickup price as the value for a 2 ton, which is definitely wrong. One place even tried to tell me that a #6 value would mean I could never license the rig. From all that I can find out, that was completely bogus. Hopefully you can find a knowledgeable outlet for the licensing, and not get into too much fuss. It isn't always easy for sure.

My 48 F5 dump is 6500 empty, and its GVW on the ID tag is 14,000. I think an F6 is 16,000 GVW according to the tag. If you're going to use it, I would register it for 16,000, because it's possible to load it that heavy. If you're not going to "use" it, 8,000 should be more than enough.....
