81 f100 weight

My father is looking at an 81 f100 to buy. He wants to switch it to a built 460. He is trying to go through cam specs and stuff and was wondering how much the truck weighed. It is a standardcab stepside shortbox. Any ideas, or suggestion for tranny. He wants a hotrod truck. Thanks!

My truck (300, C6) is about 4200 lbs I THINK. Its just the number that popped into my head. Add a couple hundred more pounds for the 460.

82F100SWB has a good reputation on FTE.82F100SWB has a good reputation on FTE.82F100SWB has a good reputation on FTE.
My 81 when it was 2wd with a 302, SROD 3 speed/OD, half a tank of gas, and a spare tire in the bed tipped the scales at 3475 LBS.
Add about 210 LBS for the 460, and a hundred or so for a transmission that will hold up to the 460...

thanks

Hey thanks for the help guys. It is very helpful. Yea it has a 300 six in it now with that weird manual 3 speed with overdrive. Man going 65 and hitting that overdrive you can hear the cylinders hit one at a time and if there is a head wind forget it! Is that tranni worth anything?
