Sorry no clue here just trying to point you somewhere to maybe find out. Try checking the wiring and/or fuse schematic pages in PU manual. That's helped me on other vehicles many times isolating problems. Have you checked to see if power is coming to the unit with a multimeter? Any other things not working? Usually there are 2 or more electrical devices protected with one fuse.

Summary:
1. Anything else not working? Yes? Try to isolate possible fuse book schematics.
2. Everything else OK. Check for power to unit. Could be wiring or broken/corroded contact point.
3. If #1 and #2 OK. Always the hard part. Take apart unit and check switch if possible.

Basically, start with the easy possible solutions first. Then work down to hard ones. Someone else will hopefully know more on this particular device and chime in. These steps are just generic for problems.

My OD Button is the same way. Stuck in overdrive as well. It used to just be iffy on functionality. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Any information on this? I'm hoping its just a button or connection issue.

Most likely there's a short in the steering column. The wires run over the steering mechanism, rub over time and short out. My light doesn't work either but it does activate the OD when depressed. I already replaced the button with no change so I will have to order the whole shifter assembly.

I see. So you think i should go with ordering the assembly first? I suppose i'll upen up the column and have a look. Never done that before though.

I would open up the column first. You may be able to see the shorted wire and fix it with some simple splicing. I cannot find my short and it might be in the stick itself so I need the assembly. Here's a write up on how to remove the plastic shrouds on the steering column. Easy-peasy... oh and do the door chime mod too. You'll love it!

Three screws takes off the bottom plastic. You need to remove the ignition tumbler in order to get the top plastic panel off. That's where you'll need to snoop around for the short because that's where the wire for the transmission OD button crosses over the top of the linkage.

One last thing that I don't think was in the instructions. Disconnect the batteries.

haha good call. I would have probably forgot about that until i got shocked. The only thing i hate about that is having to reset all of my stereo settings. But it's not a big issue. I am going to clean my engine and need to incorporate my battery terminals anyways. I'll just write the settings down or something. thanks again.
