Getting more HP from my 460 EFI 1990
Hi
I swap a 460 EFI from 1990 coming from an F 350 to my nissan Patrol; it is an awesome engine with a lot of torque; although I must say I thought that the engine would have faster reactions and more HP
I live outside USA so I have limited availability of ford engine parts.
My idea is to buy a package from summit or other guys
My question is
What should I buy to make my engine get more Hp and feel "lighter and faster" cams? stroker kit? bigger injectors?others?
My only mods until now are K&N intake and Mufflers.
I plan to use this car specially for Big sand dunes offroading (lost of HP and torque needed) and some dayly driving....... pollution issues are not a problem.
thank you
Matias

There are a ton of things you can do. You may want to look into upgrading the computer with a super tuner or possibly go the rebuild route but that depends on what kind of EFI system you have. Whether it is mass or speed density air metering. I am not very up to date on EFI systems for the 460's though so I could be blowing smoke. I do know that with a super tuner you can reprogram the computer to give the engine more grunt and also change the transmission shift points. You may also want to look into regearing your rearend. I don't know what kind of engine came out of you Nissan Patrol or what gears are in there, but if you have anything higher then a 3.55 to 1 ratio you should be ok. With any mods you do to the engine you have to make sure the computer can recognize it otherwise it will just run off of default settings which is kind of like the bare minimums to keep it running.

Thanks Kevinrf250 (sorry it took so long to answer), I got mine set at 42 psi and still playing, got the header install done but the trucks off the road for the winter, can't wait to try out the new set up.
So whats the next big mod to you truck, bigger throttle body maybe? just finished paying for the headers so I'm looking for ideas.

here is what i plan on doing to my '94 460 before i stuff it into my bronco. i haven't done it yet so no actuall results (i am feeling like an internet wheeler here... but hopefully this will help you, matias)
i did basically the same stuff to my current efi 302 and it worked out great...
headers and dual exhaust- i have tri-y headers and will run dual 2.5" exhaust with 50 series flows.
cam swap- putting in the comp cams compugrind cam for use with the stock ford SD injection. prolly also go with the appropriate valve springs cause i like rpm. pt no. 34-255-5
port heads- clean up the bowls, short side radius, exhuast ports, and gasket match everything.
vavle grind
performance torque converter- havent found one that i like yet, but i run one from level 10 in my curent e4od and LOVE it. makes a real seat of the pants kick.
hope this helps a little. everything should be available overseas through summit or jegs.

kevinr250, go for the D60, best money ever spent on my truck, (I did it when the truck was 2 years old and 30k miles)
It was a little difficult to explain to my wife why the new truck needed to "fixed" so soon but as usual she just shook her head and walked away (thats why we're still married, ha ha.)
Which throttle bodies have you looked into if any (maybe we sould start a new thread on that)
