68 F250 Wiring Diagram and Electrical Question
Does anybody here have a wiring diagram for a 1968 F250?
I have the dreaded alternator not charging syndrome. Actually it is charging, but not giving me a full 14 Volts. I have replaced alternator (The guy who rebuilt it told me he put 100 amp guts inside), regulator and solenoid.
Second question: Will a 100 Amp alternator cause any problems if the truck originally had a 65 amp alternator?
Thanks for the Help!

Thanks for the fast responses.
I am getting about 12.5 volts at the battery. I start the car and rev the motor cold or warm, and I still have the same voltage at the battery. I tried this on my 65 T Bird, 1995 Bronco and a BMW and the voltage immediately went to 14.5.
I stuck the voltage meter between the wires on the ammeter to test current and I found it was working. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it showed current. When I turned on the headlights it showed more current.
When I put the volt meter on the battery it hums along right in the 12.5-12.7 range. When I turn the headlights on the voltage at the battery starts slowly dropping, this happens at idle or when the car is reved up.
Alternator has been rebuilt and I also took it to my local Checker and had it tested. I watched it put out 14.5 volts.
I am totally confused at this point. I have peeled back tape and inspected wires. I am thinking of running a new wire from the ignition.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

wiring diagram
I have the wiring diagram and can fax it to you if you would like, send me an email and let me know. Yes 14.5 is correct voltage and you should see it at you bat. If the voltage reg is good, then you need to look closely at wiring. Which model and engine size do you have?

jwrboss302,
I just emailed you with my fax number. Thanks for the offer.
I have a 390 in a 1968 F250 Camper Special Custom Cab.
I can't figure out what else it could be unless the 100 Amp Alternator is overkill. I can't imagine the shop rebuilding an alternator for me that will cause so many problems.

Problem Fixed
I just wanted to let everyone know I fixed my problem.
Many thanks to those who provided wiring diagrams.
I spent hours staring at wires, testing continuity, gawking at diagrams etc.
I finally almost gave up. I have a 1965 T-Bird I restored in the garage. I went and pulled out the Regulator from the T-Bird and put it in the Truck, It worked! My original regulator was bad, my brand new Checker's Regulator was also bad.
I learned a hard lesson. Just because it is new does not mean it works!

Special thanks to jwrboss302 for faxing me a great diagram
