The nice thing with the "X" Plan is....there's no negotiating.

The price is provided on the dealer invoice from Factory. And participating dealers must honor it. Plus there are no document fees, all all rebates and financing apply on top of it.

If you can do as good as an "X" plan on a new, in demand model like the F-150, then you should be proud.

If you're a member of this board, you'll learn quickly (as everyone here seems to know) that if you're asking the question "how far under MSRP can I get?"....you're asking the wrong question (didn't say BAD or STUPID question......just leaving room to learn.)

Your starting point, once knowing a bit more of buying a Ford truck, is INVOICE. As said above, a hundred to a few hundred above or below invoice is a good deal. Yup, depending on region, guts, and patience, will result in how far either way you'll get your toy for. Either way, once you know about invoice, and how to use it, you'll easily save thousands.

Sorry to hear you didn't like your Pilot!

The Pilot is a fine SUV. I just want a truck, and if I can get a 4 door truck it seems like I can have the best of both in one vehicle.

Cool UNDER Invoice!!!

Maybe it's a regional thing (most likely) ... or maybe I'm just that good! Either way, I was quite pleased to get $850 UNDER invoice. That just means I can (supposedly) afford more mods sooner rather than later. I did not use any plans ... just emailed the dealership and settled on a price before I went to the dealer's physical location. And then I beat them up for a few dollars more. At the time of my deal, no rebates were being offered ... just some special financing.

Previous year!? Heck no! I ordered a 2004 SCrew Lariat 2WD built to my specifications with:
  • Audiophile
  • Reverse Sensing System
  • Captain's Chairs and flow-through console
  • 3.55 LS Axle Ratio
  • Trailer Tow Package
The dealership said they would give me that price for any vehicle on the lot, any vehicle they could find regionally, or any vehicle I ordered.

so without ANY incentives, you got the truck for 850 under? I DO assume you did pay for the FDAF (advertising fee) and the fuel, right? Still though.......that's THE lowest I've heard of thus far.

OTAY JEFF/1956MARKII..............HOW the heck is this possible?
Email me instead if you fear for your job! ha ha ha

i've purchased many new chevy/ford trucks within Oklahoma and Texas. Never once been charged extra for FDAF or gasoline. Not saying i paid for it and didnt know it, but i was never charged for it as a seperate line item. Tx/Ok/Ca/La is a big hunk of the new truck market and it stands to reason the dealers cut us a little slack (just because of volume/competition ). jcreality, what you say about washington state market is true if you say that is how it is. However, not neccesarily 100% true in texas. If i were buying a new truck in washington state, i'd squeal like a pig stuck under a gate if a dealer assumed i would pay for gas or fdaf.

I did have to pay for the FDAF, gas, and Dealer's Inventory Tax. But, I'm not really paying for them.

They offered me $500 under invoice when all the other local dealerships were offering "invoice." When I went in to order my truck, I told them I didn't feel I should pay the Dealer's Inventory Tax as they'd only have my truck on the books for a day. I am ordering it afterall. I then told them I thought they should take care of the full tank of gas -- I was buying a $30K+ truck afterall. And finally, I told them I didn't want to pay the $50 Documentary Fee ... just because I know it's negotiable. To make it easy on them, I added up those three fees and determined I'd be happy to have another $150 off, and I'd let them add in those fees accordingly. Therefore, it's basically a "wash" and I'm not paying for them. Plus, it's easier to get $ off than to have several dealership folks along the way question why certain fees are at zero. So, we agreed to $650 under invoice. My sales rep then ran the pricing from Ford and it came out $189 higher. This was just a week or so after Xmas when Ford increased some of their pricing. This is also when the split the Audiophile into two line items (6CD and Audiophile). But, along with my sales rep, we'd based all of my pricing and financing on the old numbers. She'd even faxed me a invoice of a vehicle they had which showed the old numbers. So, I told her I wouldn't pay the new pricing, and that I'd need another $200 off. She emailed me back within a few hours and said we had a deal. So, that's how I got $850 under invoice without rebates, etc. I did everything by email and only saw my rep on the day I filled out the paperwork to order the truck.

I'm also getting some deals (lower pricing) on aftermarket goods. I priced out my mods with local shops and then talked to the accessories guy at the dealership. I told him what low pricing I was getting elsewhere, and he matched those items that he could. This means my remote start ,etc. will now be under warranty.

03f150man ... getting in touch with you next.

I read somewhere that Texas sells more F-150's than any other state. That could account for the market pricing there.

I ordered my truck on October 7, 2003 from Keith Hawthorne Ford in Belmont, NC.

The MSRP on my truck was $37,630. I paid $300.00 UNDER the dealer's invoice price......then saw an offer on Ford.com for a free Ford bedliner for anybody who test drove the new F-150 during a certain time frame, and then bought a new F-150.

So......If you consider that the Ford Bedliner sells for $299.00, which I got for FREE.....then I got my truck for $599.00 UNDER the dealer's invoice price....
