62,410 for the 1961 unibody. Thats as far as you'll ever get to breaking down how many were built. I've heard from numerous people that ford had a records fire back in the 60's and lost all the truck info.
Custom cabs came with chrome windsheild trim, chrome grille, a bright chrome dash panel, different and slightly more padded seat and the option of having chrome bumpers, and two tone paint. There are more, but I'm not too good with 1961's. If anybody sees anything wrong with what I posted speak up, as I'm anxious to learn. -4speed

Hey 4speed;
Doesn't that Trim package "Custom Cab" apply to all years rangeing in the Slicks 60's????????????
Just Curious
Also; I've seen in 65 & 66 model's the so call spray gray chrome long verison Dash Bezel as well in custom cab's.
Do only the Custom Cab have on doors above trim molding the chrome Custom Cab door emblems and on early sixties and 50's on hood emblems?
Thanks for the knowledge of styles........

The long horizontial guage panel was a custom cab only feature for the 1965-1966. The 61-64's had the round guage panel like the standard cab, but they were either chrome or stainless or alum.(not sure which) and said "custom-cab" across the bottom of it. I'm not sure in 1961 if you got the "door guard" by the handle either, I know in 1963 the custom cab unibody got the side trim(although weither or not it was a standard option on the custom cabs or it could be optioned only on custom cab models). This is going to make for some interesting research. -4speed edit: Door guards appear to be a 65-66 custom cab option, the script was located above the doors on all years.

4speed-
The first post, you stated about the seat , I defintely agree on the seat difference; my 65 custom Cab is slighty higher than my 66 Standard cab seat, I never really thought of that as a option until you mention it. Also was wondering was interior door handles a optional purchase item or Custom Cab item only? Also did all dashes has chrome trim pieces across the dash? Was padded dash a custom Cab item only?. Questions on 57-60 models' Custom cab only had hood side emblems?
4speed? Is that a Factory clock in your dash?
So many questions so little time. Its great to learn as we grow..

Yeah I remember alot laying in bed last night, the black padded dash was either a ranger or custom cab package for the 65-66, but for 1957-60 they had a saftey package that also came with the padded dash(maybe 61-64's could get it?).
Inside door handle were always factory, but the door panel itself was a custom cab option. The chrome pieces were custom cab only.
Another thing was the steering wheel, custom cab's got the wheel with the hornring. They also got the right side visor. Matched door locks, cigar lighter, two toned interior and it says left hand arm rest and finally a coat hook.
57-60 wise, all trucks came with hood side emblems, but the custom cab's had the script on the side of the door(right under the window). There was no clock that could be optioned, its the optional am bendix made radio(although it does look like a clock!). If you can think of anymore questions, let me know.... -4speed

I have a 62 unibody Custom Cab. It must be really early production 62, because it has all the 61 front end stuff. But it has the chrome grille, chrome front bumper, stainless headlight doors and windshield trim, stamped stainless guage cluster, and the Custom-Cab door emblems (it didn't say Custom cab anywhere else on the whole truck). Everything else looks stock right down to the 2-tone paint, and my truck has radio delete and a small back window. It came with side-view-mirrors on a single post on both doors, 2 sunvisors, a cigarette lighter and the chrome horn ring. It has chrome inner door handles on both sides, a padded armrest on the drivers door, and both doors lock from the outside with the same key as the ignition. It is a 223 with a column shift. I imagine everything is original, as theres no rust replacement or collision damage evidence and it was a one-owner truck I towed down from Portland back in 2000, which hadn't run in 10 years.
I'm certainly no expert, but I hit 7 boneyards in the SoCal area every week looking for 61-66 stuff, and I have never seen a pre 65 Custom Cab with door trim panels or the chrome trim across the length of the dash. I've never seen chrome trim on a small back window of any year (but I've heard rumors) I do agree that the seats were different between Custom-Cab and non, but maybe only in the padding. Also on post-65 Custom Cabs were the door pockets, and the ultra cool outer door handle trim pieces with the Custom Cab script embossed in the chrome. Guage clusters seem to be exempt, because I have seen plenty of Custom Cabs with the standard guage bezels. However, I've seen the lower guage bezel insert on a few 66 Custom Cabs. It fits behind all the ***** below the guage pack, and makes the whole cluster look more like an oval. It has the Custom Cab lettering monogrammed on it, and its made of stamped stainless. I've also never seen a pre 65 with a padded dash.
On my 62 I have added the lower guage bezel, the door pockets, and the outer chrome door handle inserts. The jury is still out on adding the door trim panels and the dash chrome. I have it all, but I'm having trouble imagining drilling all those holes in my perfect rust-free doors that took me 2 years to find. Oh, and on a side note, post-65 upper door hinges with the stoppers DONT fit on a Unibody if anybody was thinking about it. Just an FYI

Good info there blue oval, I'm learning new things. I wasn't sure about the dash chrome strips. The side trim I never paid attention to the window or not.
Pre 65's didn't have the outer door handle trim and I think it was still and option on 65-66's. I've never seen the door pockets on a 61-64. I've seen a few custom cab 1965-66's with the circular guage panel, but I always thought it was wrong(maybe I'm wrong) -4speed
