K&N Oil Filters?

Hey guys...anyone ever use a K&N Oil Filter...Are they worth the money, whats the advantage...are they less restrictive. Anything you know is more than me, so I am curious as to what everyone thinks of em.

thanks

Mike

they are pretty good they also have a nut at the end roe easy removal however i feel that you can get a filter of equal quality for a lot less i would get a motocraft no frams for me

I usually use motorcraft...I just figured the K&N may be something worth investigating. The ten dollar price tag got my attention...I thought maybe it would make my truck amphiboius, or fly...or beat a corevette off the line...lol. guess not.

lol MJE...thats the same reason i used them back at the time...i had used dino oil (a good one of course), but when i switched to mobil 1 the guys at the store were saying that the mobil 1 filters dont absouletly have to be used, but are designed for that oil. They are expensive too, about $10 here or even more if i have to order on the internet.

Really hard to say it’s worth it to spend $10 when a good filter only costs $3.

IMO K&N are a little better than average. They are known for their flow rates since they are designed for racing applications. Their filtering efficiency is somewhat of a mystery, but some people have reported good numbers after calling Champion labs tech support. Built like a tank. If they had silicone ADBV's, they'd be darn near perfect.

interesting study....I am surprised motorcraft was left out of it. It looks like the same situation as with K&N Air Filters you sacrifice filtration for flow. at least in my opinion.

I use the K&N on my wifes Jeep Liberty. Due to clearance problems, the nut helps a lot. I did a oil analysis on the car and it was ok. If I had better way to remove the filter I would use a cheeper filter.

Appears K&N had the best flow rate....that mightve been why i thought i was getting the RPMs up faster back in the day. This full synthetic sort of lags it a little.

After re-reading after what I prevously wrote, the study is set up so that 12 of 12 is better than 1 of 12. A little odd. Usually studies would have #1 of __ as the best. That being said, K&N is the best rating w/Fram as the worst. But, for $5 more, is the K&N that much better the Purolator Pure1?
