Tornado, ????
Greetings,
I recently heard about this Tornado (swirl technology) so I thought I would look into it. A freind of mine has an Excursion with a V10. He said he went from 9 mpg to 15 just by adding this tornado. Wow, holy yumpin yimminy! So, I looked into it. I found a deal that has some scoop on it and thought it might be worth passing on. The site is www.eng-tips.com and the descussion topic is "Swirl technology and devices take 2". These guys are running dynometer test on high performance motors as well as regualar street stuff like I can relate to. I was looking into the miles per gallon area cause I do a lot of miles on a weekly basis. I am in the process of reading it again for the third time and I am convinced that I am "not convinced", if you know what I mean. Seems there is an advantage to the carborated engines and a "negation of the swirl" in the EFI models. I am not too too sure that I will be investing the 70 to 80 bucks just yet without looking into this a little more. Just thought I would shoot this out there for info. (note**, I haven't as of yet seen this freind of mine' truck, and that mpg increase is yet to be seen, as far as I am concerned). Anyway, there you have it. As I find more, I will slide it in here on this topic............ ,...

Will,
Semper Fi, Mac. I am active duty Marine Master Sergeant.....
RRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!.
Anyway. Found a couple of more stops on this one. Seems that Turbo-Flo has one, Hiclone makes the same as well. As I keep looking into this; everything I find is that there seems to be a minimal increase in the mpg. There is almost no add as far as in performance, i.e. horsepower and torque for us normal guys. One test did show a +5.7 torque and +5.7 hp from 4000 to 6900 rpm. But... this was with VP C-12 race gasoline.....Hmmmmm. Out of my league totally.......So far all I am going to invest in is my favorite 'ham sandwich in a can' and some good reading on the subject.......Rob
