Bullet Holes

The son and I worked on the Hood of the old 50 Delivery truck last summer and got it to look pretty good. I'm looking forward to this summer and how much work it will be to do the actual body. The ride was found on top of a rock pile in centrl N. Dak. and had been subect to target practice over the years. What is the best way to handle the bullet holes? What goes in must come out. Yep, they went in one side and came out the other. I have thought of using a hole saw and cutting out the bad spots and then having circles punched out a doner piece of sheet metal and welding in the repairs. I read somewhere on another thread that was better than filling with a weld.
Thanks for the time.

from my own experience filling the firewall on my 54 i did both using small patches cut from the same gauge sheetmetal with a large piece of copper as a heatsink behind while i was welding and also using the copper piece as a backing and weld filling the smaller holes. i found it was easier for me to use sheetmetal patches just my humble opinion

Bullet Holes

The Bonnie and Clyde death car, a 1934 2 door sedan was restored with all the bullet holes intact, well over 100. I understand that this is not a historical vehicle in that sense but a few holes left here and there with just the centers filled to weatherproof it may be a neat way too show what the old panel has been through and survived durring the past 50 years. Just a thought. Travis..

I know this wont help Gear Up, but F-ONE got me thinking. I got some of those Bullet Hole decals, I thought it may be a kick to use them on my 92 Toyota or something. Funny though I haven't used them yet, I worry The police will think I'm a Criminal. I am **** about lights and Blinkers and stuff, I just dont want to be pulled over, even if its just a warning. LOL Maybe I'll see how they look on Brutus.

I had given it some thought in putting the patch bullet holes on when completed but with all the work that will be incured in getting the truck looking the way I want it I don't think I wisk to deminish the final outcome. Thanks for the thought thou.
