F-150 to get diesel

Just got new 4 Wheel and Off Road, and the latest news from Ford is I think in 2006, the F-150 will get a diesel engine as an option. More than likely a V-6. So now you oil burners can have a diesel in your light duty. Anyone else heard this?

Sorry it was Off-Road magazine. Last year Ford cancelled its plans with International to put a 4.5L V6 diesel. But now have decided to really do it. You Power Stroke boys hold your breaths(drum roll)....Detroit Diesel 4.0L V6 235HP at 340lb-ft....John Deere no specific engine listed....Caterpillar only info. is a small V6 diesel....the BIG one, Cummins Inc. their contract with DaimlerChrysler does not say that cant sell diesels to another company, and Cummins has many motors that could be used in the F-150, but Chrysler is expected to discourage Cummins to sell them to Ford, because it would be competeing with the Ram. So, Ford will have a diesel in the F-150 in 2006.

If I'm Cummins Inc., I'm holding my hand out looking for a nice extortionary-type payout from DCX before I get "discouraged" from sell my product to a bidder.

Competition is good....last time I checked.

I don't know if this is still in the works or not , but I read in a tech journal that Ford and International were working on an electronic variable valve timing V6 for the 150. With solenoids operating the valves like current injectors, they can get power, economy or whatever is called for at the time. If anyone else has seen anything on this it would be interesting to hear about

Im pretty sure you can rule out Detroit Diesel, after all it is a company owned by DCX

Yes, those are the diesels that Ford is considering...hoping Chevy will plop that Duramax in the 1500, so I can shock some of my z71 friends.
