Oh yeah, and let's not forget the extra cup holders and seat warmers! I think the new Nissan even comes with an industry first, an automatic butt-wiper as well.

I think since it's a Japanese vehicle, they should come with a small camera too!

ha ha

No ill intended to anyone of any race with that!
EXCEPT maybe STREET racers! hehe

After all these years of towing 10,000 lbs. and now I find out my truck weighs too much. I always thought it was nice to have a HD truck to tow through storms and heavy wind. I always thought it was good to have a truck that is not 'pushed' by a heavier trailer. I always thought it was important to have big heavy brakes, a big motor, and beefy diffs and axles.

I guess I need to sell my truck since it weighs over 6000lbs. Maybe Big3rock will help me find a good light truck? If low weight is important, maybe a nice T-100 with a 4 cyl?

VERY important point 95cobraR, So it may not be the quickiest thing around but atleast we know ford is building a truck with towing in mind. While alot of manufacturers are concerned about light weight and nice ride and whatever else for the yuppies that don't know what its like to drive a real truck ford is building a stable TOWING platform. Isn't that what trucks are all about to begin with? I think so! So if anyone has anything to say about foriegn trucks being better because there lighter, faster, and get better gas milage, I'll be sure to laugh at you as I drive on by after a strong wind knocks you off the road! As far as I'm concerned if your worried about stuff like light weight and going fast, why by a truck? you dont deserve to own a full size truck! Domestic or not! Go buy a lightiing if ya want a fast truck or a Dodge SRT-10 or a chevy for that matter, but DO NOT bash ford for building a good tow vehicle!

Exactly - in fact, Ford also doesn't really test to see if things last beyond 100K.

My company has a large testing lab, and we do quite a bit of the long-term, endurance, and "torture"-type testing for both Ford and GM (as well as the imports). GM's and Ford's specs and testing criteria are very similar - it would be hard to say which standards are the toughest to meet.

As WXboy says, the problem was that the lady at GM admitted it - that was the mistake. While the same is also true for Ford, nobody at Ford was dumb enough to make that kind of public statement. Also, Ford and GM vehicles aren't really built to last ONLY 100,000 miles - they are built to last AT LEAST 100,000 miles - and there's a big difference. It isn't like they reach 100,001 miles and then fall apart. I've run both GMs and Fords well beyond 200,000 miles without major problems.

Unhappy Titan

Everyone here seems to be wanting to give Nissan a little slack on the Titan, but Nissan has been build V8's on full sized frames for ages over sea's. Look at the Nissan Pajero in AUS.

Are you going to be praising Nissan when you're broke down on the side of the road , saying it's not that bad it's their first time.

I can only go by my own personal experience.

1963 F100-Never let me down
1974 F100 4wd-Never let me down
1990 F150-Never let me down, still my daily driver, 264k mi
1998 Ranger 4wd-Never let me down
2002 Sport Trac-Never let me down
2004 F150-Never let me down, so far.

With a track record like this I'd either need my head examined or be one disloyal sob to buy anything but a Ford!--Jack

Wonder where that 6,000 pound comparison (F-150) to 5,200 or so for the Titan came from. I've read all of these magazine testings and don't remember there ever being more than about a 150 pound difference on similarly equipped trucks.

Nissan makes good engines, they have for a long time. They are show-casing some of their best efforts yet in the Titan and from everything that can be read - it is a lovely, powerful engine that not only runs hard but sounds good too. It also looks like this truck is getting better gas mileage on U.S. highways than the new F-150 - 18mpg or so at 80 mph. That is probably due to the higher rear end ratio that Nissan can get away with because of the electronic traction controls.

I think Ford has a major competitor here. Nissan has already cleaned up the design somewhat. And, I also think Toyota with their new San Antonio, TX plant will be a major consideration soon too.

It was really interesting to read the Nissan thread. I owned an '85 Nissan car and was very impressed with the quality. I was not impressed with my dealer, however. It surprised me to read that owners' seat and electrical complaints to their dealer were not being treated with more concern. Big mistake.
Also, I noticed that the posters on the Nissan site don't treat each other with the courtesy and respect that I see in FTE. We had a thread on seat comfort and nobody got told that they might be too fat for their seat to work properly.
I guess that comes along with product maturity-the F series has been around awhile, hasn't it!
We don't have to be nervous about how we're going to be treated if we have an issue or how we are going to be treated if we post an honest question or comment on this website.
This site has added to my enjoyment and experience with my new truck.
I think that the Titan people have a learning curve to go through. Hopefully they'll make it.
By the way, on the Titan seat and the durability issues and comparasons- Ford tested the 04 seat to retain its' shape about 250,000 times getting in or out, with the weight of a big guy. At getting in/out 10 times a day, I think that would be about 34 years.
Awesome.
Enjoying the thread.
