What is the most efficient RPM for a 5.4?

openclasspro. I took these horsepower and torque figures for the 5.4 v8 2valve engine right off of 2004 Ford F250/F350 literature. Look at the modifications you list on your truck. Would that alter the peak torque curve? Philip.

i highly doubt it- but i know what my dynographs show- like i said may be advertising bs- to attract buyers?????

Now add in the drivetrain loss and you will have the advertised flywheel hp numbers.

i 'm referring to my tq being at 3800 rpms versus 2500 as the highest point that ford rates even adding my drivetrain losss- my torque at 2500 is nowhere near 350ft lbs that ford rates it

We did a long post on this in the V10 forum where we actually get better mileage @ 75 mph w/3.73's. 2500 rpms.At lower rpms the engine does not seem to be as effecient probaly because of velocity or lack of moving thru the engine.Just because the engine is loping along at low rpms does not mean that is where it is most economical.

That's not true in my case. Below 2000 is the best for economy.

im had always heard that when towing heavy too turn off overdrive. soo when i towed 7000 pounds behind me from kansas city too washington DC running around 70 to75 12 with overdrive 10 without thats was flat land part of the trip. once i hit the moutain's the truck hit second gear a few times.

Not sure why your peak torque numbers are at such a high rpm. Mine feels strongest between 2500 and 3000 rpm when towing.
