Will this fuel pump work? (Pic)

Front pump on my truck is dead. Guys at the junkyard sold me this, said it will work. Said it was out of same year truck and same tank.

Is there a way to take apart the large plastic fuel pump assembly on my truck and install this? Just dont want to rip it all apart and have it not work. I've had the pump out before, but didn't think you could disassemble it.

I am not sure by what you say when you mention large plastic thing? If the pump is in the tank it is in the tank and there is no large plastic thing that I know of. That does look like a tank pump. So to change from what I have seen and done you have to drop the tank.

Well the guys at the junk yard are off by one year. Through 89 there was a low pressure lift pump in each tank, and a high pressure on the framerail. From 90 up, there is a high pressure pump in each tank, a large plastic thing as you describe. It comes complete for about $175.
