'82 Heater Core replacment - w/ ac
Does anyone have the procedures for heater core replacement
on a 1982 F150 with a/c? I have the glove box out. Seems there
is a lot of stuff in the way under the dash. The truck had a/c
and there is a bunch of left over abaondoned a/c parts making
it cluttered and seems like not much room to get at the heater core area.
Thanks!

Yeah I started removing the ac stuff under the dash because
all the under the hood stuff was gone when I bought the truck and I'd never get to putting it all back.
Here'e a stummper. The Haynes manuel shoes ...
* Early non ac models (engine compartment mounted heater core.
*All other models (cab mounted heater core)
Looking at the diagrams. Mine looks like the Early non AC type.
Following the directions, it says .. from the engine compartment, remove the screw retaining the top center or the heater case to the dash panel. It also says there is a screw to remove from the engine compartment for the right end of the heater case.
When looking at mine, there isn't any screws or bolts that I can access from the engine compartment.
Looking at the LMC parts catalog..... they show Heater Componets without ac amd with ac. My truck had ac but the
heater motor looks more like the one illustrated for non ac.

Hi Bob:
The heater hoses go to the heater core nipples/tubes
that pertrude out from the black housing in the engine compartment. They do not go through the fire wall.
The heater controls are the cable style as shown in the LMC
catalog for "without ac".
There are cut ac hoses that go through the fire wall.
THANKS !

I think I made some huge progress this evening but ran out of time and day light. From the passenger compartment under the dash, I located 3 bolts that protrude through the fire wall
that have nuts on the end. I was able to loosen them and
from what I can tell I'm pretty sure that they are the only bolts that hold the black plastic housing in the engine compartment to the fire wall.
I couldn't fully remove them beacuse the bolts were spinning
and I didn't have a helper to pull on the box to keep tension on the bolts while I removed the nuts. But I was able to get all 3
loose enough to see that the housing unit should be esay
to remove from the engine compartment. That would be nice!
I'll toy more with it over the weekend.
So I guess I'll order the heater core for the "non ac"
even though the truck had ac......
