460 Block casting numbers

I was looking at a 460 block, casting # is D9TE-AB. The seller claims it is an SVO block. I was not able to get too much info regarding this casting number but best I could tell it's an early 90's regular 460 block. Does anyone know of a resource for checking SVO block numbers?

Look for the date of casting.
The D9 means original design was 79, but we need the actual day of casting.

It was cast as a truck and or van block also.

Thats what the "T" is for.

I know the T stands for Truck.
But when it comes to engine class the usually always keep the *original* dedication.

The 460 wasn't originally made for the truck it was designed for the Lincoln, thus the V.

The 352 was designed for a full-size car = ID is O.

Was the 360 designed for a truck ?
as was the 361,391,
Yes ? That would make it a C9TE-A

If The 289 was designed for a Fairlane > ID is an A
If The 302 was designed for a Fullsize Ford ID would be an O.

This is why I find the thought of the 460 having a T as the car line
character as not correct.

I'm waiting to hear back about the casting date. I did a search on the web for the D9TE-AB code and found it being used in a vast number of rebuilds so I'm not guessing it to be an SVO as the seller is claiming.

The D9TE blocks are truck blocks from 1979 and up in pick-ups and vans. They were even used for 370 and 429 medium trucks into the mid 90's and maybe later.

I was not dissing you. Take it easy.

I as well know the 460 did not start life as a truck engine.

But the D9TE block casting was for the external balanced engine used in the 79 up 460 trucks and vans. And greenhighboy threw in a couple more truck applications.

I will also add, there appears to not be a lick of difference between the V Lincoln casting and this one. I have one of each for comparison.

The only difference between the them that I have found is the T castings have longer cylinders.

A SVO Block will have a M-6010A460 Part number and it will have 4 bolt mains on 2,3,4 main caps. You'll have no problem telling a factory stock block from a SVO block.
